Governor Jack Markell declared a state of emergency in throughout the Delaware. This declaration was needed for safety. Heavy layers of snow brought about low visibility of roads which could lead to accidents. People are strongly advised to stay at home.

National Weather Service Department recorded the highest snowfall of 21 inches in 1976. Looks like this year the record is now to be beaten.

There is no definite time when the state of emergency is to be lifted. Those who decide to go against the law are fined up to $500 or up to six months in prison.
