Nodar Kumaritashvili Died During Training
Just a few hours before the start of the Winter Olympic games, Nodar Kumaritashvili of the Republic of Georgia lost his life. He was training for the luge competition. He was 21 years old.
When the accident occur, his speed was determined to be around 144.3 kilometers per hour. It is considered a very fast speed.
The video shows how he was thrown off his sled then hit into a metal pole. He was already near the end of the track when this unfortunate incident happened.
