The attack that happened in Romulus, Michigan comes as shock this holiday season. A Nigerian man who claimed that he is one of the agents of al-Qaida had tried to blow up a Northwest Airlines plane as it was already near the plane landing in Detroit.

Northwest Airlines Flight 253 with 278 passengers and 11 crew members, passengers heard popping noises which sounded like firecrackers. this was followed by smoke. The incident happened 20 minutes before the landing.

Passengers were fast in defusing the flames that burned the Nigerian terrorist. Later on this turned out that the he had intentionally strapped explosives on his legs. He is supposed to complete the mission upon reaching US soil.

White House believes that this is a terrorist attack, and investigations had commenced. The suspect’s name was identified as Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab.
